Difficulty: Level II (Moderate)
This course is offered as part of the Instructor Development Program and open to anyone seeking to develop essential back-country skills. Enjoy the beauty of one of OP's classic locations, the Wilson's Creek Wilderness. The Wilson Creek area is part of the Grandfather District of the Pisgah National Forest.
Spend 3-days and 2-nights in the backcountry while immersed in a weekend full of skill development. Not only will you learn the essential backcountry skills including campcraft, navigation and leave no trace you'll also learn how to become a leader and instructor backpacking trips.
Pre-trip meeting: Wednesday, Nov. 14th from 6-7:30pm

Learn what its like to be an Appalachian student—both in and outside the classroom. The two-hour campus visit includes a presentation, a discussion of admission criteria, a walking campus tour by a student ambassador and opportunities to meet with university representatives. Campus tours are available throughout the year except for holidays and university breaks.
